To maintain the finest genetics around, and to produce calves with desired features, we use a variety of bulls for breeding here at the ranch. We select the bulls to be used based on what we are seeking at the time. We are currently breeding mainly for size, but also seek color variations, solid conformation and easy temperament. With these criteria, horn size comes on its own so we really don't consider horn size a priority. Breeding to these bulls is done by bringing in a select bull to the ranch for a few months or by taking selected females to another ranch or by using artificial insemination (AI).

Our current matriarch cow, Loretta has taken over as the head of the herd. She is a great producer and mom, giving us a great calf every year with wonderful color, large size, easy temperament and great horn potential. We will be using AI in the future to breed her to 'best of breed' sires.

Gracie was our first Longhorn Cow. Got her in 2012 and she's been the matriarch until just recently when she succumbed to a younger matriarch type and officially 'retired'. She still gives us a great calf each year... like she has every year since we've had her. Gracie is shy but knows us well; we respect each other, She will live her life out here where she belongs.

Our second cow, 'Grouchie' was named because, well, she was grouchy. But with superior genetics from the likes of 'JR Grand Slam', 'VJ Tommie' and 'Working 'Woman', she has been a great cow for us... having given us excellent offspring every year over the past decade. She's 15 now, still going strong... and not near as grouchy as she used to be.

Twisted is a great momma cow that breeds and births easily and delivers offspring with excellent size, coloration and temperament. She's getting up there in years but still has several calves to go before she retires. Not a horn award winner but still good at 72" TTT on 2/28/2024.

'Twister' was always going to be a beef animal, but when his horns started taking on their unique drop and curl,and with his coloration, we knew he was destined to be a superb show steer. We hesitated to sell him but we are a ranch and do have expenses and we found him a great new home.

We are so very excited about 'Cutie' and her future here at the ranch. Her sire is the famous 'Cut'N Dried;, a 100" TTT Longhorn Bull that weighs over a ton (a combination rarely found). She recently had her first calf, a heifer by 'Dynamic 0', a Jimmy Jones bred bull. Cutie will be a cornerstone cow here at the ranch.

Ebony is our first solid black longhorn. We wanted to breed her via AI to an upcoming rising star of a homozygous Bull - 'RL Black Market' - to produce a black heifer with better genetics and more future potential for our breeding program. And we did! At 3 years of age, she measured 51.5 TTT, which is actually pretty good for an all black longhorn. She's not homozygous so with the right breeding she should produce some nicely colored offspring.
